2N Auckland + 3N Rotorua + 1N Taupo + 3N Queenstown + 1N Lake Tekapo + 1N Christchurch
Day 01 : Arrival in Auckland
After landing in Auckland, your clients will collect their rental car and head to their hotel. The first evening is best kept simple — perhaps a short stroll along the waterfront or a relaxed dinner nearby. It’s worth checking in advance if the hotel offers parking, as central Auckland can be expensive for overnight stays.
Day 02 : Auckland City Explorer
Auckland is a city that rewards slow exploration. The Sky Tower is a great starting point for panoramic views, especially in the morning when queues are shorter. Mission Bay offers a laid-back beach vibe, while the Viaduct Harbour is lively in the evenings with dining options. A ferry ride to Devonport is a charming way to end the day, with sunset views back across the city skyline.
Day 03 : Auckland → Rotorua via Waitomo & Hobbiton
This is a longer driving day, so an early departure is recommended. At Waitomo, the glowworm caves are magical, but tours are popular, so pre-booking is essential. Photography isn’t permitted inside, so encourage clients to simply enjoy the spectacle. Hobbiton is equally enchanting, and the tour concludes with a drink at the Green Dragon Inn — the exclusive Hobbiton beer or cider is a treat. Allow plenty of time at both stops before continuing to Rotorua.
Day 04 : Rotorua – Culture & Nature
Rotorua combines geothermal wonders with Māori heritage. At Te Puia, the Kiwi Conservation Centre is a highlight, as it’s one of the few places to see the national bird. The Polynesian Spa is best enjoyed later in the day when it’s quieter, and the lakeside pools are especially restorative. The Redwoods Nightlights walk is magical after dark, so booking it post-dinner makes for a memorable evening.
Day 05 : Rotorua → Taupo
The short drive to Taupo means there’s no rush. Huka Falls is dramatic and quick to visit, while Lake Taupo offers plenty of leisure options. For adventurous travelers, Taupo is also famous for skydiving, with unbeatable views over the lake and surrounding mountains.
Day 06 : Rotorua → Queenstown (Flight)
Clients will return their car at Rotorua Airport before flying south. Queenstown Airport is compact, making car hire pickup easy. The evening is free to explore — a lakeside walk or dinner in town is a great way to settle in and soak up the alpine atmosphere.
Day 07 : Milford Sound Full-Day Tour
This is a long but rewarding day. On the coach journey, sitting on the left side offers the best views heading into Milford. The cruise itself is spectacular — encourage clients to spend time on the outdoor deck for close-up encounters with waterfalls and wildlife.
Day 08 : Queenstown Adventure Day
Start with the Skyline Gondola in the morning for the best photo light. The luge rides are fun for all ages, and buying multiple runs allows guests to try different tracks. Later, the Shotover Jet delivers pure adrenaline — waterproof jackets are recommended as splashes are inevitable.
Day 09 : Queenstown → Lake Tekapo via Mount Cook
The drive is one of New Zealand’s most scenic. A stop at Mount Cook Village for short alpine walks is highly recommended. If time allows, the Hooker Valley Track offers stunning glacier views. In the evening, the Dark Sky Project at Mount John Observatory is unforgettable — warm clothing is essential as temperatures drop sharply.
Day 10 : Lake Tekapo → Christchurch
Photographing the Church of the Good Shepherd in the morning light ensures fewer crowds. The drive across the Canterbury Plains is relaxed, and Christchurch’s Botanic Gardens are a lovely free attraction to enjoy upon arrival.
Day 11 : Christchurch → Kaikoura Whale Watching
The coastal drive north is beautiful, with plenty of photo stops. Whale watching is the highlight, but seas can be rough, so motion sickness precautions are wise. Encounters with giant sperm whales are guaranteed, with seasonal sightings of dolphins, seals, and seabirds adding to the experience. Clients can return to Christchurch afterward or stay overnight in Kaikoura for a slower pace.
Day 12 : Departure from Christchurch
On the final day, clients will return their rental car at Christchurch Airport before boarding their onward flight. Allowing extra time for car drop-off during peak travel seasons ensures a smooth departure.
